Discovering the route of problems and the foundation to effectiveness

Arbinger’s work with organizations begins with a full-day workshop that awakens a deep, emotional understanding of how we create the very problems we complain about and blame on others.

This leads to a powerful revelation that we are responsible not only for these problems and the negative emotions that they spawn, but also for the solutions to these problems.  In other words, participants realize that the problem of self-deception  is getting in the way of their ability to be truly effective.

As a result, the workshop helps participants develop a mentality of responsibility rather than one of blame in their work.  So called “problem” members of the team are often the most profoundly affected, as the Arbinger ideas cause them to see themselves and understand their impact on others in a totally different light.

The Key Challenge

Because self-deception is the problem of not knowing, and resisting the possibility, that one has a problem, making people aware that self-deception affects them can create tremendous resistance and is therefore not a trivial task.

The core Arbinger workshop has been designed to break through this veil of self-denial and resistance, and is facilitated by a facilitator who has been carefully selected and trained to do so in a non-threatening manner.

The sum of the ideas presented leads participants to the inevitable conclusion that they do suffer from self-deception and that this problem is seriously undermining their personal and professional satisfaction. 

The Result

The result is that participants not only recognize the problem, but develop a deep desire to overcome it.  Building on that desire, participants then learn how to overcome self-deception.

Workplace Implementation Workshop

Participants build upon their new-found understanding of effectiveness. Learning how to apply the Arbinger framework in their day to day work, holding themselves accountable— meeting their obligations and taking responsibility when they don’t.

Arbinger Accountability Model

The Arbinger accountability model is designed to ensure collaboration efforts are focusing on overall organizational objectives, rather than on employees own narrow individual or functional goals.

Most importantly, the participants learn to execute Arbinger’s time-tested workplace implementation strategies, which enable them to embed the Arbinger principles in their day-to-day work.

Equipped with the understanding of self-deception and these implementation strategies, employees will become better able to focus on achieving results that are important to the organization as a whole.

The  is that the organization is positioned to achieve better results and to experience substantial and sustainable improvements in key areas such as leadership development, team effectiveness, change management, customer service, and conflict resolution.

Leadership Workshop for Managers

Instilling a blame free culture

To truly instill a blame-free culture of accountability and collaboration, an organization’s managers must lead their employees in a way that inspires self-awareness, accountability, and collaboration.

Following the core and implementation workshops, managers and leaders are recommended to participate in Arbinger’s foundational leadership workshop, delivered in a 1-2 day session.

Influencing Others

This workshop, gives managers an in-depth understanding of how to positively influence others and effect positive change.  This is then applied to understanding and addressing workplace issues, both those that are highly visible and those that are uncovered by the Arbinger model.

Arbinger’s program for leaders has been proven to enable managers around the world to more  effectively develop and motivate their employees, inspire trust within their teams as well as across their organizations, and develop cultures of accountability and collaboration.

Train the Trainer

Train your own employees to lead the rollout and implementation of Arbinger Core and Implementation Training throughout all or part of your organization.

Through an intensive 5-day Facilitator Training course, attendees learn how to facilitate the Core and Implementation workshops (attendance of these workshops is a prerequisite for this course).

Arbinger then works closely with each trained internal facilitator to ensure their success. This ongoing help includes one-on-one and group coaching with Arbinger coaches and facilitators and could also include team-teaching opportunities.

Delivery License

Employees who complete the 5-day facilitator training will have a license to deliver Arbinger Core and Implementation Training to other employees within their employing organization. Each employee trained by these internal facilitators will need to be supplied with the training materials packets that support the workshops. Please contact us for packet pricing

Delivery Options

We offer open enrollment Facilitator Training sessions (see the Events calendar for dates) and also conduct facilitator sessions in-house for organizations wishing to train five or more employees as internal facilitators.

Consulting Support

To support post training implementation and use of the principles to address specific organizational problems, Arbinger consultants work to embed new workplace practices and transform people problems and conflicts that arise. The aim is to establish a foundation for a blame free culture of accountability.

Consulting services are delivered by phone or in person to entire work teams and/or individual employees.

Executive Coaching

While focuses on the implementation of the key Arbinger workplace strategies & practices, the coaching focuses on helping individual leaders, managers and key employees understand how self deception may be getting in the way of their own, individual effectiveness. It helps them uncover their blind spots, invite accountability and cooperation in their teams.

Each person sets additional measurable objectives for his or her personal development and implementation based on their needs.
