Solving the problem of Self-Deception

Before we implemented the Arbinger work in our organization, we said we were focused on results, but we weren’t.  We were focused on demonstrating how our poor results were someone else’s fault.  Now we all know just what we should be doing, and everything we are doing supports the results of others throughout the company.

Simply stated, self-deception is the problem of not knowing—and resisting the possibility—that one has a problem, or contributes to problems.

In other words, most people feel that others cause problems, but few people feel that they themselves cause them.

Hence, problems persist and efforts to change fail, as those that really need to change think others are to blame.
